This article examines the relationship between the musical education of respondents and their successes in exact sciences with the use of various tests. An alternative hypothesis is tested about the difference in success in exact sciences depending on the musical education. Seven tests were chosen that indirectly indicated the subjects' predispositions to exact sciences. Respondents with higher musical education, to a lesser extent people with secondary musical education, are more prone to exact sciences than people without higher musical education. However, an almost linear decline in depression rates and an increase in the subjective assessment of success were established. U ovom se članku ispituje odnos između glazbenog odgoja ispitanika i njihova uspjeha u egzaktnim znanostima uporabom raznih testova. Temeljena na rezultatima testova, upotrebljavajući testove Student, Kruskal-Wallis i Mann-Whitney, ispitivana je i alternativna hipoteza o razlici u uspjehu u egzaktnim znanostima ovisno o glazbenom odgoju, i vezano s tim o predispoziciji za egzaktne znanosti ovisno o stupnju ispitanikova glazbenog odgoja. Zbog objektivnijeg i sveobuhvatnijeg sagledavanja ovoga pitanja uz podjelu ispitanika na skupine prema stupnju glazbene pismenosti ispitanike se također podijelilo na pet dobnih kategorija. Tako se alternativna hipoteza testirala odvojeno za svaku dobnu skupinu, što je omogućilo isključivanje pogreške u rezultatima vezanim uz dobne karakteristike ispitanika. Da bi se testirala hipoteza izabrano je sedam testova koji su neizravno upućivali na predispozicije subjekta za egzaktne znanosti, osobito za matematiku i logiku. Studija je otkrila da su ispitanici s višom glazbenom naobrazbom, a u manjoj mjeri i ljudi bez višeg glazbenog odgoja, skloniji egzaktnim znanostima nego ljudi bez visoke glazbene naobrazbe. Razlika koja je nađena važi za adolescente i starije ljude, dok kod odraslih nema značajnih razlika među pojedinim skupinama. Uz to, istraživanjem je primijećena zajednička tendencija u svim skupinama prema dobnom opadanju u kognitivnim sposobnostima kao i pažnji i pamćenju. Međutim, sa starenjem, i to bez obzira na skupinu, ustanovljeno je gotovo linearno opadanje u stopama depresije i povećanje u subjektivnoj ocjeni uspjeha. Sve u svemu, navedeni pokazatelji bili su otprilike isti za sve skupine bez obzira na dobne granice. Isto tako, za vrijeme istraživanja pouzdanost svih rezultata se provjeravalo uporabom tzv. p-vrijednosti i z-vrijednosti.
